MATCH REPORT | Valencia CF beaten away to FC Barcelona (6-0)

Valencia CF’s LaLiga Matchday 4 game against FC Barcelona ended in a 6-0 defeat, in a game relocated to the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
The first chances of the match came from Barça, and after a corner, Julen Agirrezabala was required to make use of his great reflexes, after the ball went towards goal from a deflection off Dmitri Foulquier in the area.
FC Barcelona continued to press high and came close to taking the lead when Fermín López passed to Ferran Torres; the former Valencia CF striker took a shot from inside the box, but was denied by the impressive Agirrezabala.
Attempting to push forward to stop FC Barcelona's attacks and create some breathing space, Valencia CF tried to create transitions with dozens of long passes. However, in the 29th minute, FC Barcelona's first goal came from an connection between Cubarsí, Ferran, and Fermín. The Andalusian midfielder finished off with a hit just inside Agirrezabala's far post.
The first half ended with a move in which Hugo Duro tried to take advantage of an error by Eric García, but the striker failed to connect with Diego López.
At the start of the second half, FC Barcelona took control of the game. From one chance, Ferran hit the left post. Minutes later, the Valencia CF goalkeeper saved another effort, again from Ferran.
The Catalans then scored their second goal of the match: Rashford crossing from the left flank and Raphinha firing home.
Three minutes later, Fermín added the third with a shot from outside the box.
Valencia CF tried to react with the introductions of Ramazani, Ugrinic, and Rioja, and in the 65th minute Thierry Correia came on, returning to action after 322 days out with a serious injury.
FC Barcelona scored their fourth goal in a move in which Raphinha finished inside Agirrezabala's left post.
Later, in a move between José Luis Gayà and Luis Rioja, Valencia CF had a chance to score a consolation goal, but Joan Garcia saved.
In the 76th minute, Robert Lewandowski scored the fifth for the home side, and followed up with the sixth.
In a footnote, Lucas Beltrán made his debut for Valencia CF, playing minutes at the end of the game.
There will be a swift turnaround following the 6-0 defeat, as Valencia CF play next Saturday, September 20th, against Athletic Club at Mestalla.
